A neighbor in the Los Angeles suburb, where the great golfer Tiger Woods fell, is being hailed as a hero for allegedly running to his aide after calling 911 in the wreckage.
The unidentified, married 60-year-old man who lives near the scene of Tuesday’s accident at Rancho Palos Verdes ran to the scene after Woods, 45, apparently lost control of his 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV on a subject stretch accidents outside of Los Angeles. The Sun reported.
The man who allegedly took action to help Woods did not want to be interviewed on Wednesday morning, but another resident of Rancho Palos Verdes considered him a “hero”, according to the report.
“We heard that he ran from his home to Tiger’s car as soon as he called 911,” said another neighbor to The Sun. “He helped officers get Tiger out when they arrived. The accident happened right behind his home, so when he heard it, he knew immediately that it was a serious accident.
Woods has no memory of the wreckage that left him with a broken right leg. He faces a long road to recovery, including extensive physical therapy and more leg operations, medical experts told the Post.
No criminal charges are being considered in the accident and Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva said on Wednesday that there was no evidence indicating reckless driving on Woods’ behalf.
“A charge of reckless driving has many elements in it,” said Villanueva. “This is purely an accident.”
