These are the latest news from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department chief Carlos Gonzalez, one of the first police officers to arrive on the scene after golfer Tiger Woods destroyed his SUV outside Los Angeles on Tuesday. He said the golfer was wearing a seat belt, which could have saved his life, and he looked “calm and lucid”.
The PGA legend, who suffered “serious injuries to both legs” according to authorities, was rushed to surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center after his car hit a central jobsite and rolled upside-down over a fence 30 meters until settling off the road.
Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva said at a news conference on Tuesday that “there was no evidence of disability” at the scene of the incident.
“There was no evidence of loss,” said Villanueva during his comments. “There was no effort to draw blood, for example, at the hospital.”
Sheriffs will investigate the incident for a variety of different causes and disclose their findings in a matter of days or weeks.
A second accident occurred after another driver stopped to help Woods, according to local officials. The wreck was minor and no one was injured.
A number of sports personalities, as well as former President Donald Trump, became the first to publicly send their “prayers” and “thoughts” to Woods, via social media, while he is treated at the hospital.

Tiger Woods in surgery after an accident, his agent confirms
The Tiger Woods agent said the golfer suffered significant injuries in the accident and was undergoing surgery to correct the damage.
“Tiger Woods was in a car accident this morning in California, where he suffered several leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we appreciate his privacy and support, ”said Mark Steinberg.

Woods the third time will be investigated on issues related to the car
This is the third time that Tiger Woods has been involved in an automobile investigation, the most notable being the Thanksgiving accident of 2009, when his SUV ran over a fire hydrant and hit a tree.
In May 2017, Florida police found him sleeping at the wheel of a car parked awkwardly on the side of the road. He was arrested on DUI charges and later said he had an unexpected reaction to the prescription drug, which he had for his back pain.
But Mr. Woods later pleaded guilty to reckless driving and was admitted to a clinic for help with prescription drugs and sleep disorders.
The police have not yet given any indication as to what caused the accident, only saying that an investigation has been launched.

Details of the Los Angeles police release on the scene of the accident
The Tiger Woods car accident occurred just before 7:15 am and about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, bordering the luxury communities of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, officials said. Woods was in Los Angeles over the weekend as a “tournament host” for the Genesis Invitational on the Riviera, where he handed over the trophy.
He spent Monday and Tuesday filming with Discovery’s GOLFTV, with whom he has endorsement contract.
