Two days after suffering severe leg injuries in a single vehicle accident, Tiger Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical in Los Angeles. He was receiving care at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which released a statement detailing Woods’ transfer.
“Sir. Tiger Woods has been transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to continue orthopedic treatment and recovery,” says Dr. Anish Mahajan’s statement. “To respect patient confidentiality, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center will no longer provide information about the patient’s treatment. ”
Cedars-Sinai is about 20 miles north of Harbor-UCLA.
Woods suffered multiple “comminuted open fractures” in his right leg. His leg was stabilized with a rod inserted in his tibia, while screws and pins were inserted in his foot and ankle.
In an update given on Wednesday, Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva said the incident was “purely an accident” and that no criminal charges would be brought against Woods. There was no indication that Woods was in trouble at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred around 7:12 am Pacific time, on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles. Woods was traveling at high speed and lost control of the vehicle before crossing the central partition. His car overturned several times and hit a curb and trees. Woods was wearing a seat belt and it took prybar and ax to remove the windshield from the car.
