FORT WORTH, Texas – Joseph Maldonado-Passage, also known as Joe Exotic, will remain behind bars, despite an expected pardon from President Donald Trump.
Exotic became famous last year with the miniseries Tiger King on Netflix and has been very public in its search for forgiveness.
But when the list of presidential pardons and commutations was released shortly before midnight on Tuesday by the White House, his name was not on the list.
Earlier in the day, Exotic and his legal team were optimistic about their chances.
SKY4 found the limo he booked to be picked up at a prison in Tarrant County, which was parked outside his lawyer’s office on Tuesday afternoon.

Exotic was sentenced and sentenced to 22 years in prison for a murder plot for hire involving the nemesis Carole Baskin, in addition to violating wildlife laws on the sale and death of some tigers.
Exotic’s lawyers filed for forgiveness at the Justice Department in September.
Trump granted pardons and commutations to 143 people in the final hours of his presidency. Notable names include former adviser Steve Bannon, rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Republican fund-raiser Elliott Broidy.
