It may have been Tiffany Haddish who won a Grammy, but we are all crying.
The comedian shared an exciting video on Twitter on Sunday night, just hours after receiving the Grammy for Best Comedy Album for her work on “Black Mitzvah”.
In the video, Haddish is filming “Kids Say the Darndest Things with Tiffany Haddish” and hears in her headphone from a producer that she won the Grammy Award for which she was nominated. She stops talking to the children briefly and asks in tears: “Are you serious? Did I really win? “
“You know that a black woman hasn’t won in that category since 1986,” Haddish tells the children, noting that Whoopi Goldberg was the last black woman to win the award for “Whoopi Goldberg: Original Broadway Show Recording”.
A child says that she did knows this, because she learned during Black History Month.
Haddish starts to use his victory and reaction as a teaching moment: “Can I say why am I crying? There are a lot of rough roads that you cross, right? And you often think, ‘Am I doing the right thing? Is that good enough? Am I good enough? Am I strong enough to do this job? ‘”
“And then you just have to believe in yourself as much as you can,” she continues. “Against all odds, you just say, ‘You know what? I’m just going to do my best and I’m going to give the world the best I have. ‘ Right? Everything is possible.”
You can watch all the tenderness moment above.
