Tickets for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival will go on sale on Thursday

SALT LAKE CITY – As most of the festival will be held online this year, tickets for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival will go on sale on Thursday.

Tickets will be available for purchase from 12 noon, mountain time. The festival runs from January 28 to February 3.

“The work on this year’s program is innovative, imaginative and formally bold,” said Sundance Festival Program Director Kim Yutani in a press release last month. “With more than half of the program done by new directors, the sense of discovery remains true for us at Sundance. This year’s Festival presents irrefutable evidence that, despite the challenges, the independent voice is as strong as ever.”

All films on the festival’s schedule, including the 72 feature films and all short films, will be available online in the United States. Some of the films will also be available worldwide.

With limited face-to-face events at Sundance this year, in addition to a shorter schedule, passes and tickets are cheaper than in previous years. Tickets for the screening of a single film cost $ 15, while tickets for the festival, which give full access to everything that happens at the festival, cost $ 350, according to the Sundance website.

Sundance is also offering $ 75 daily passes, which will allow access to any festival event in a single day.

A $ 100 pass for award winners will allow you to watch all 32 award-winning films after they are announced on February 3. Finally, the $ 25 Explorer Pass allows cardholders to view Sundance’s indie series, New Frontier and short-on-demand programs.

Although the festival is mainly online through the redesigned Sundance website, the films will not be entirely on demand. Pass holders will still need to reserve a spot for movie premieres, which have a limited number of virtual seats available. The last day to reserve a spot for a film premiere will be January 28.

There will be five film premieres every day of the festival, from 10 am to 10 pm MST. Two days after the premiere of these films, there will be a 24-hour viewing window for people to watch the films on demand.

Full details about the festival and how to buy tickets are available at festival.sundance.org.
