Three designer Asher Vollmer is launching a new studio, Vodeo Games, and announced the company’s first game, a turn-based adventure called Beastbreaker.
Beast Breaker stars Skipper, a small mouse warrior fighting mosaic monsters. The game depends on tactical choices through pinball-like mechanics; players can also create equipment to help them on their journey. He’s going to Nintendo Switch and PC this summer. Vodeo released a brief trailer along with today’s news that shows the game’s fast gameplay and colorful art style.
On its website, Vodeo says it plans to launch small, intimate games “full of complex and interconnected systems that can take years to fully dominate”, once a year. The studio is already launching a second as part of its plan to work on several projects.
Since launch Three, Vollmer continued to work on other experimental projects, including low-fidelity peasant simulator Royal members and Apple Arcade fantasy title Guildlings.
