Three Reasons Why Texas 2021 Recruiting Lessons Were A Disaster

Texas’ 2021 recruiting classes were not what Longhorn fans are used to seeing.
The class was ranked 17th nationally and 2nd in the Big 12, behind rival from Red River, Oklahoma. Throughout the year, Texas continually lost recruits and even saw six players give up and go elsewhere.

Through no fault of Steve Sarkisian, he tried his best, in the short time, to put a bandage on the deep cuts. The defensive side of three stars, David Abiara, committed himself and signed on Wednesday, after being once a verbal to Notre Dame. The Longhorns still lost Austin Uke and LJ Johnson, but the flaws date back to relationships with Tom Herman’s team.

However, there were still some positive aspects that came out of the class. The Longhorns have hired 21 players who will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the program. Unfortunately, the potential that was ahead of Texas throughout the cycle has not met standards.

Here are three reasons why the 2021 recruiting class turned out to be a disaster.
