The Cleveland Indians sent two players away from the team, probably for a few days, after they broke the COVID-19 protocols. Third base player Jose Ramirez and striker / hitter Franmil Reyes are to blame, according to coach Terry Francona (via Mandy Bell from mlb.com) Reyes got a haircut on Friday and the two had dinner together in a restaurant.

Prior to spring training, all parties involved with the Major League Baseball agreed to the protocols. Reyes and Ramirez broke the agreement, so now they are going to be a little bit away from the team.

They were not alone. Cubs appeaser Pedro Strop was also involved and will also be away from his team for now (via Jordan Bastian from mlb.com)

It can be recalled that last season this same Cleveland ball club had an incident in which pitchers Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac broke protocol in Chicago. Plesac admitted and ended up coming home alone, while Clevinger flew back home with the team and only later took responsibility. Both pitchers were placed on the shortlist, subsequently chosen for the alternate site and Clevinger was then traded to the Fathers.

As we are in early March, instead of during the regular season, do not expect similar consequences. Still, Cleveland will undoubtedly be without its two best hitters for at least a few days.
