Three Americans were infected with the coronavirus after being fully vaccinated on the island of Hawaii.
One of the patients, a health professional, traveled around the country after being vaccinated, but later tested positive, KITV4 reported.
“You need to be careful when you are at the airport, on the plane, with other people in larger groups,” said Dr. Melinda Ashton, director of quality for Hawaii Pacific Health.

Five people across the state are currently in the ICU because of Covid-19 infection.
“We haven’t seen that kind of number since the beginning of the pandemic,” said Julius Pham, chairman of Queen’s Medical Center’s Covid-19 committee. “We are still having about 50-60 cases a day in the state, but our hospitalization numbers have dropped more than the infection rate in the state.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, current vaccines are between 66 and 95 percent effective.

“Over time, as more people are vaccinated, we have more time under our control with this vaccine, we have a better idea of how long the protection lasts,” said Dr. Michael Walter, of the Kalihi-Palama Health Center.
