The Super Bowl is finally coming. OK, guys, it’s showtime. Well, not yet, but now we’re only a few hours away from kick-off! Chiefs against corsairs. Tom Brady against Patrick Mahomes. The ageless champion against the reigning champions. Could it get any better than that? You may already know that Kansas City is a favorite in this match, even though the game itself is played at the Buccaneers’ own stadium – the first time in Super Bowl history. But in the spirit of welcoming Super Sunday, we decided to try some bold predictions for the big game.
As the Super Bowl LV approaches, here are three:
1. Brady and Mahomes combined for 800 yards, six TDs passing

Brady already has the record for most passing yards in a Super Bowl, beating 505 in his 2017 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. It will take a long time for him to replicate those numbers, and even a great game by Patrick Mahomes may not eclipse the combined mark of 2017, considering that Nick Foles also played for 373 in the Eagles’ victory. But still, we expect the Bucs-Chiefs clash to be just as much, if not more, of a shootout than when the two sides faced off earlier this season, when they combined 807 yards in Kansas City’s 27-24 victory. This is still a very large total, mind you, as it would require Brady and Mahomes to average an average of 400 yards each, as well as three touchdowns each. Fasten your seat belts!
2. Bucs, Chiefs go to OT for the second time in Super Bowl history
Believe it or not, only one Super Bowl went into overtime. Can you guess which quarterback played in that one? Yes that’s right. Tom Brady. In fact, the last OT Super Bowl, which ended the 2016 season, is undoubtedly Brady’s best ever: his 28-3 comeback to defeat the Atlanta Falcons. We could easily see this ending in regulation (history says it is very likely!), But all the signs point to it being close, so who’s to say that the two sides can’t give us a few extra minutes of action? The only times that Andy Reid and Bruce Arians faced each other as head coaches are worthwhile, their respective teams played three-point games.
3. Brady steals a late advantage, but Mahomes gives the Chiefs the second consecutive title

The closer this game gets to the beginning, the more difficult a choice becomes against Brady. Think about it: if he ever proved that the pessimists (all three) were wrong in a Super Bowl, wouldn’t it be at 43, while facing the league’s best QB consensus in Mahomes? He would prove, once and for all, that he reigns supreme – even against the closest thing to Brady of the next generation. It helps that the Chiefs are missing two important matches at the start. And yet … Kansas City is still too good. While Brady will undoubtedly maintain this balance and probably take a late lead to almost claim a seventh ring, Mahomes and Co. will not roll anywhere nearly as easily as Washington, New Orleans and Green Bay did during the postseason. Crown them again!
