Call of Duty 2021 is reportedly known as Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard internally at developer Sledgehammer Games.
This report comes from sources who speak to ModernWarzone, which claims that the name is a working title, and that this year’s game may eventually be released under a different name. While this rumor is worth taking with a pinch of salt, especially in place of any official commentary from Activision or Sledgehammer, the title can provide a hint about the nature of the game.
Whether or not the word ‘Vanguard’ appears in the final title, it seems increasingly likely that we will be returning to World War II. Sledgehammer was the lead developer behind Call of Duty: WWII 2017, so it could easily be set to return to that period. Furthermore, a Call of Duty leaker has already suggested that this year’s game will be set in World War II, and ModernWarzone also reports that some of the game’s scenes will be set in the 1950s, just after the period in which the war took place. .
Activision has confirmed that this year’s entry into its FPS series will arrive in late 2021, as is quite common at the moment, but we have had very little official information since then. That said, the Call of Duty reveal events tend to be in the summer, so we should find out more soon.
While we wait to find out more about the next Call of Duty game, here are some of the best FPS games you can play in the meantime.
