This OnePlus Watch provocation is worrying

The OnePlus Band is now an official product on the way that will be released on January 11th. The company announced this today, even with a direct link to an Amazon list that shares several details and features of wearable fitness. But thanks to a dip in a recently discovered OnePlus Health app, we will be able to take a look at the watch faces for the next OnePlus Watch.

The app was discovered yesterday and a look at its files revealed several OnePlus Band watch faces, tutorials on how to wear the bracelet and more. As staff at XDA continued to dive, they found a lot of watch faces that appear to belong to a larger round smartwatch.

We’ve included all the watch faces at the top and bottom of this post. As you can see, they were built for a bigger screen than the OnePlus Band. One, the dial with the analog clock showing 12-3-6-9 markers, looks identical to what is now included in OnePlus phones for its always-on screen.

In addition, the listing for the OnePlus Health app (via Android Police) says the app exists to “pair and manage multiple smart devices, such as smartwatches and bands”, while allowing you to “customize and synchronize message notifications and incoming call information”. This app is almost guaranteed to connect to OnePlus Watch.

All the dials on the watch look solid, with countless options for tracking simple things like time or showing more advanced continuous health statistics. My concern, and I can write something more about it, is that the OnePlus Watch does not run Wear OS and instead is just another smartwatch geared to fitness, like the recent Huawei Watch GT or Amazfit GTR.
