There are rumors that Nintendo has been working on a bigger switch for some time, which was supposed to appear later in 2021. But YouTuber Michael Pick is not waiting for a new Nintendo model – he built his own bigger switch.
Much bigger, as it turned out: almost six feet wide, compared to the normal size of the 9.4-inch Switch.
“I really like the Nintendo Switch. It is small, it is portable – but it is very easy to lose. And for me, that was a problem. So I decided to fix it by doing something a little bigger, ”said Pick. This sounds like an understatement when comparing Pick’s oversized model (which he says is the largest in the world) with the original.

The gigantic version of the Switch is less a portable console and more a fancy wooden frame for a 4K TV screen, with 3D printed buttons and a real (full-sized) switch hidden inside. To make the buttons work, a smaller Joy-Con controller is stored inside with several servo motors that translate the large button presses into the real hardware inside. The joysticks are even simpler: huge joysticks, printed in 3D, centered with rubber bands on the top of the smaller Joy-Con joysticks.
Of course, the huge custom switch loses some of the portability of the regular switch: at 25 pounds, it’s not something you can carry around easily. And if someone wanted to complain, Pick’s Switch is not technically completely functional, without a touchscreen and removable Joy-Con controllers (which makes it more of a giant Switch Lite in practice than a giant standard Switch).
Still, the lack of portability shouldn’t be much of a problem, as Pick is donating the custom console to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
