The Los Angeles Lakers had a run for the NBA title and are currently working to repeat themselves as champions. There is always room to maximize the support cast around stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. There is a talent at San Antonio Spurs that can help.

If there is a Spurs player who can help the Lakers immediately and in the long run it is Dejounte Murray. The 24-year-old has not yet emerged as an NBA star, but he is well versed in his strengths and has a skill set that would help a candidate.

Murray had a very strong start to the NBA’s young 2020-21 season. He is currently averaging 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.2 assists with great efficiency in his first four games.

If the Lakers don’t want to allow their initial owner to reach the free agency without a long-term deal in the next NBA off-season, making a switch to Murray may be an answer. This would help provide a cheaper option for the job than Dennis Schroder is likely to command.

Let’s take a look at a commercial package between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs centered on Dejounte Murray.
