This 1979 Ford F-150 is a state-of-the-art Raptor under the skin

Needless to say, the Ford F-150 Raptor has all the latest Oval Blue off-road technology to compete with the American truck-loving market. These tech toys are part of the whole appeal – in addition to their twisted appearance, of course.

However, I know several people who are still in love with what the Ford F-150 was like at that time, especially the sixth and seventh generation models. If you are among these people, say no more – here’s a 2014 Ford Raptor with the look of a 1979 F-150, matching the old and the new.

As can be seen in the video embedded at the top, this equipment was made by Sweet Brothers Restomods. We know, it looks confusing. But for simplicity, the chassis, Fox Racing shock absorbers and the 6.2-liter V8 engine of the first generation of the Ford Raptor were kept under the skin, while the body was of a sixth generation F-150. Probably the coolest restomod made on a truck we’ve seen so far.

And yes, if you think the old F-150 shouldn’t fit in the Raptor’s modern chassis, that’s correct. That’s why the folks at Sweet Brothers Restomods used their after-sales magic and stretched the geriatric body to fit everything – and they are very successful in doing so. Some modern essentials are present, such as heated and cooled seats, as well as front and rear cameras.

Even better, the retro-looking Raptor is equipped with a Roush Stage II supercharger kit, with a total power of 590 horsepower (440 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. That’s more than enough to pull the body from a single cab, of course, but you can never go that far, right?
