Third potential customer, Saniya Rivers commits to South Carolina Gamecocks

Saniya Rivers, the third candidate in the 2021 HoopGurlz espnW class, pledged to South Carolina on Saturday in a video posted on Twitter.

Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks had the first recruiting class in 2019, only to fall out of the top 20 in the Class of 2020. Rivers’ commitment puts them back on track with a great junior perspective.

Rivers, a six-foot guard, was twice Gatorade’s Player of the Year in North Carolina at Eugene Ashley High School in Wilmington. She averaged 25 points, 11.7 rebounds and 6.3 steals per game as a junior.

She is the second prospect of the top 30 in the 2021 class to commit to Gamecocks, joining Aubryanna Hall, a five-foot guard at Wayne High School in Ohio.

South Carolina has only one candidate for the top 100 in the 2020 Class – the owner Eniya Russell, who is in 43rd place overall.

Rivers became the fourth best prospect in the 2021 class to announce his commitment. The 2nd Olivia Miles goes to Notre Dame, while the 4th Brooke Demetre chose Stanford and the 5th Amari DeBerry is committed to UConn.

Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 prospect in the 2021 class, has yet to commit.
