These peeled Pokémon designs are horrible

Since the early days of the franchise, Pokémon fans have shared their personal opinions about the creatures, but shelled Pokémon can be the most disturbing versions of all time! The @peeled_pokemon Twitter account has been running through all the Pokémon in the franchise, with a number of details removed using the Paint Tool Sai 2. According to Kotaku, the designs started out as a joke among friends, but the account quickly exploded on the media platform. Social; @peeled_pokemon started tweeting in January 2020 and had over 66,000 followers at the time of writing. Clearly, the designs have impressed many Pokémon fans!

At this point, the account has now shared images of the first 452 Pokémon with details removed. This puts them in the Gen IV territory, which seems quite appropriate, considering all the recent Pokémon Diamond and Pearl news! The stripped Pokémon designs are all being posted in their official Pokedex order, so most diehard fans won’t have a hard time identifying them (numbers are included in each Tweet, but names are not). However, for casual fans, some may be a little easier to identify than others! An example of the @peeled_pokemon account can be found embedded below.

It’s interesting to see how fans reacted to these posts and how much the account made in the past year. It is a testament to the franchise’s popularity and also shows the various ways in which Pokémon continues to inspire creativity among fans. Over the past 25 years, Pokémon fans have found many creative outlets through the franchise, and these shelled Pokémon designs are no exception. It is unclear whether the person who manages the account will eventually offer separate versions of all Pokémon in the franchise, but as the account creator approaches half, it looks like a different possibility!
