Many American companies are debating whether vaccines should be mandatory. More than 70% of current or recent CEOs of large companies said they are open to requiring vaccines, said a survey by the Yale Executive Leadership Institute.
“I think the right thing to do is United Airlines, and other companies, demand the vaccines and make them mandatory,” Scott Kirby, United’s CEO, told investors in a January earnings conference call.
But not all CEOs agree. While some sectors, such as healthcare, may require vaccines, others are offering various incentives to employees.
Aldi
In January, the discount supermarket chain announced that it will give its hourly workers a total of four hours of PTO to be vaccinated. Aldi emphasized that the vaccine would not hinder employees. work or pay.
Currently, only 13 states offer vaccines to grocery workers, said United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, which represents 1.3 million frontline workers.
American Airlines
Vaccinated employees will have an extra day off next year and $ 50 in American’s employee recognition program.
“I think, from our point of view, we are strongly encouraging our team members to go out and get the vaccine,” said AA’s director of operations, David Seymour.
Amtrak

Target (TGT) is offering its employees free travel to vaccination sites. The company announced in February that U.S. employees will be entitled to up to $ 15 worth of Lyft round-trips for their appointments. Hourly employees will also receive up to four hours of pay.
