While Americans wait for the second coronavirus stimulus check, there is already good news for some workers who receive minimum wages. The New Year is already responding to the wishes of prosperity, as Friday marks an increase in the minimum wage in 20 states.
There are 22 states that will increase the minimum wage, from a few cents to R $ 1.50, two increases that will happen at the end of the year. The states that immediately raised their minimum wage after 2021 are listed in alphabetical order here, as reported by the Labor Law Center.

Two other states have plans to raise their minimum wage in 2021. Delaware will increase from $ 9.25 to $ 10.25 as of October 1, according to Senate Bill 170. This salary increase has slowly increased the minimum wage since 2014 and will conclude its last stage in October.
Nevada is also expected to raise its minimum wage from $ 8.75 to $ 9.75 on July 1.
Michigan was expected to raise its minimum wage in 2021 as well, but failed because of the high unemployment rate. The state’s Enhanced Workforce Opportunity Wage Act, which was established in 2018, stops all planned minimum wage increases if the state’s annual unemployment rate drops above 8.5%. In the third quarter of 2020, the unemployment rate was 8.6%, the state reported.
The federal minimum wage did not change in 2021 and is not expected to change. It has been $ 7.25 since 2009.
Even if your state is not included in the 2021 minimum wage increases, US government stimulus checks are on the way. Americans will receive $ 600 per individual in the coming weeks after President Donald Trump signs the COVID Aid Package on Sunday.
Individuals who earned $ 75,000 or less, based on their most recent income tax return, will be eligible for a total of $ 600. Couples who earn less than $ 150,000 at home will be entitled to $ 1,200 and a possible $ 600 per child , according to CNN.
Trump originally suspended payments of $ 600 in hopes of raising the amount to $ 2,000 per individual. Senators tried to vote to approve the increase in the stimulus this week, but Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell blocked the vote.
