When you buy clothes for a young man, you trust the company that made them a lot. Unfortunately for Target buyers, nearly 500,000 units of clothing for children from newborns to 12 months of age are being collected due to a serious problem with the push buttons embedded in the clothing.
According to a pair of new recall bulletins posted by the Consumer Product Safety Division, the clothing – which was sold under the names Cloud Island and Cat & Jack and imported by Target – received dozens of fit reports being undone, breaking, or falling. A handful of complaints claim that a child has been scratched, pinched or lacerated as a result of defective inserts.

The recall for Cloud Island children’s coveralls covers about 299,000 units, while the Cat & Jack recall includes 181,000 units. Target is asking anyone who has purchased any of these clothing items to immediately return them to the store for a full refund. Consumers must immediately remove the children’s overalls collected from the children and return them to any Destination Store for a full refund. Consumers who purchased the overalls on Target.com can contact Target to receive a prepaid return label to return the overalls.
So far, the company has received 16 reports of press buttons on Cloud Island clothing and another 27 reports of press buttons on Cat & Jack swimsuits. Cat & Jack clothes were sold at Target and online stores on Target.com from December 2019 to December 2020, while Cloud Island overalls were sold from July 2019 to October 2020.
If you purchased clothing items through Target.com, you can contact the company using the information in the official recall bulletins and request a prepaid shipping label for your return. Once the item is received, you will receive a full refund of the purchase price.
Needless to say, this is a very serious product recall and you shouldn’t take any chances. Even if you have one or more of these items of clothing and your child is doing well, there is no guarantee that the product is not defective. Your best bet is to follow the recall guidelines and return them as soon as possible for a refund, which you can spend on replacements that, fortunately, will have no problems in the future.
