If you were hoping that, despite the December non-contest, the Cubs could meet with outfielder Kyle Schwarber, you can keep those hopes in a dusty trunk.
Schwarber goes to Nacional:

Schwarber, 27, still has so much unrealized offensive potential as a complete hitter that the idea of him finally bursting with another club turns my stomach a little. I can understand the Cubs moving forward from the perspective that they wanted to change the lineup, and maybe they don’t see Schwarber’s game changing enough to fit that mold. And yes, I can also understand that the foreign corner market is full of interesting types. And yes, I knew that, once he wasn’t hired, the chance that the Cubs would actually refuel with Schwarber would be almost zero.
But I’m still upset. Early.
UPDATE: Schwarber obtains the maximum limit of his possible arbitration projection, which, good for him, but also confirms that there would be less commercial value due to the uncertainty of arbitration this year:
I heard that Schwarber’s deal is 1 year and $ 10 million with #Nationals
