There are rumors that the iPhone 13 features ‘refined matte background’, always-on screen and more

A new video today from EverythingApplePro on YouTube offers a series of rumors about what to expect from this year’s iPhone 13. The video cites exclusive details of prominent Max Weinbach, claiming that the iPhone 13 will feature an always-on screen, minor design tweaks and more.

There is also a rumor about the Apple Watch Series 7, with the video reporting that glucose monitoring will not be ready for this year.

The video begins by saying that while overall design changes are minimal this year, the matte back of the iPhone 13 Pro will be “refined” so that it is textured and “more sticky” to hold. The video explains:

“The matte back is getting refined. So on iPhones 2021, I’m sure Max is referring to the Pro models, they will have a slightly more sticky textured back. He says they will be a little more comfortable and assumes it will be like a soft matte, as in the Pixel series. “

The video also corroborates previous reports that the iPhone 13 Pro will feature the same high refresh rate of the 120 Hz ProMotion display technology as the iPad Pro. Apple will also use the new LTPO technology to give the iPhone 13 Pro a screen every time. active, similar to what is already available on the Apple Watch.

Weinbach explains how the feature will work:

The always-on display will have minimal customization. The current design basically looks like an attenuated lock screen. The clock and battery charge are always visible. Notifications appear to be displayed using a bar and icons. Upon receipt, the notification will appear normally, except that the screen will not light up completely. Instead, it will appear exactly as you’re used to it, except dimmed and only temporarily.

The video also states that the iPhone 13 line will feature an enhanced ultra-wide-angle lens, ranging from six pieces to five pieces. The lenses are supposed to still be of “lower quality” than the other two lenses, but Apple is working to make improvements in this area. This was also previously reported by Ming-Chi Kuo.

Another camera improvement with the iPhone 13 is said to be support for portrait video, something Apple has been working on for “some time,” says the video. “You can record a portrait video and change the depth of field in the post,” explains the video.

Other details of the video:

  • The iPhone 13 will reportedly feature a stronger set of magnets for MagSafe technology.
  • New astrophotography features: point your iPhone at the sky and it will switch to “astrophotography mode” when it detects stars or the moon
    • Longer exposure times, more internal processing
  • AirTags arriving in March or April, software features fully implemented
  • Apple Watch Series 7 will not have support for glucose monitoring
