A new Xbox Update Preview was released this week to give Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha Insiders a taste of a convenient added feature that appears to be perfect for multitasking and social gamers. The feature in question is connected to the Xbox mobile app which, if you are not already using it, can be convinced to do so after testing the update which is now available to those on the appropriate Xbox update preview rings.
Microsoft shared the notes for the latest update on the Xbox website for details on how the new “View on Mobile” feature works. It’s a simple feature that will make the app much more useful when you want to do something on the Xbox, but want to deal with something in the app that is more intuitive for that platform, like chatting with friends.
“Users will notice a new option to ‘View on mobile’ to complete certain actions in the Guide,” explain Microsoft’s notes for the update. When selected, a notification will be sent to users’ phones (if they have the Xbox app installed) to complete the action. “
The image below was shared to show what this new feature looks like in the menu. It is a small change, but it is the one that best connects the app to the console interface and should allow players to have an easier time starting a process on the console and ending it in the app if the feature is available. Microsoft has not detailed all the scenarios in which this feature can be used, but the most apparent benefits of it should be felt when chatting with friends or using other social features of the console.
In addition to this new feature, the Xbox update included a few more bug fixes that players may be experiencing. These fixes deployed in the update can be found below.
