A woman who had an allergic reaction to Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine said that “absolutely, positively” will receive the second dose citing concerns about the virus itself. Moderna said on Tuesday that it received a report from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that several individuals were treated for possible allergic reactions at a vaccination center after receiving a dose of a batch of the company’s COVID-19 vaccine. . The state epidemiologist has already recommended that providers stop administering the remaining doses of the batch.
“The company is fully cooperating with CDPH in the investigation of these reported adverse events,” said a statement released by the company on Tuesday. “Consistent with the CDPH statement, Moderna is currently unaware of comparable groups of adverse events from other vaccination centers that may have administered vaccines from the same batch, or from other Moderna batches.”

The company said it “expects a significant portion” of the batch’s distributed doses, identified as batch 041L20A, to have already been used. It is not clear what may have contributed to the set of outbreaks, or whether all recipients who experienced a reaction had underlying allergies.
“This investigation is still ongoing and Moderna is working closely with the FDA and CDC to understand the clinical cases and whether the wide pause in the use of the lot is warranted,” the statement said.

Brennan told Fox 5 San Diego that she has a seafood allergy and was asked to stay 30 minutes after the jab for observation.
