Kentucky and Louisville tarnished college basketball’s good name on Saturday with 40 minutes of ugly basketball. Despite the bad game, Kentucky had a chance to win. Olivier Sarr’s corner attempt, the same spot where he lost the winner of the game against Notre Dame, hit all points before rolling. The Wildcats lost 62-59, Kentucky’s sixth straight and the first to Louisville since 2016.

Sarr was 0-4 in the night, scoring just a point and a rebound. Terrence Clarke was goalless, limited by his ankle injury, and BJ Boston scored just 3 of 11 goals. Davion Mintz was the UK’s brightest star, making four trios to end with 19 points and seven rebounds.

The United Kingdom had another scoring drought in the second half, leaving nine minutes without a goal. Despite the most offensive ineptitude, Kentucky still had a chance to win thanks to a bizarre and ugly sequence of events.

– Isaiah Jackson hits his own foul.
– Carlik Jones shot in the middle of the painting.
– Sarr makes two free throws.
– Violation of the UofL shooting clock.
– Jackson missed 12 feet (and was not too close).
– UofL walk.
– Jackson makes 1 in 2 on the free throw line to tie the game at 59.
– Dre Davis of UofL goes off limits at the baseline.
– Askew forces up three when the kick timer ends, UK is called for a loose ball foul on the rebound.
– Davis loses the first free throw, makes the second.
– Sarr’s shot goes in and out.

Kentucky lost a rock fight. Now they are 1-6, limping the SEC game.
