The window pane falls from the 53rd floor of the Midtown, Manhattan, New York skyscraper

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) – A glass panel fell on West 58th Street in Manhattan on Thursday night.

The New York Department of Buildings says it fell from the 53rd floor of a skyscraper on Billionaire’s Row at about 5 pm.

Researchers say the section of the 3.5 x 2 meter window had already been damaged before falling.

On-site contractors had plans to replace the window panel.

Fortunately there was no one on the floor where the glass fell and no injuries were reported.

The authorities are still deciding whether any citations will be issued.
