Since the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan on February 4, visitors have posted videos and photos of attractions across the Internet. Although the posts left those who were still stuck absolutely salivating, the new images of the theme park at least allow people to enjoy it from afar. Now we have a complete view of Mario Kart’s new ride, Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge, from Universal Park News Today.
The attraction uses augmented reality, so that each visitor has their own Mario-themed headset to play while driving. The tour offers visitors a first-person view of a variety of classic tracks, such as Mario Kart Circuit and Rainbow Road. As people progress from one course to another, everyone fires AR bullets at Bowser and his subordinates to accumulate points.
The waiting area is also charming. The line passes through a model of Bowser Castle filled with all kinds of fun props. There is a giant throne – presumably from Bowser – that has a framed photo of Princess Peach sitting on it, and a prize box with all Mario Cup trophies. This box also features a new cup, which integrates the Universal Pictures logo into the Mario Cup.
Overall, the tour looks fantastic – and for now, I can only dream of experiencing it live in all its glory someday.
