The Marvel Cinematic Universe will have a new God of Thunder when Thor: love and thunder opens in theaters next year, and new photos from the set are showing how Natalie Portman’s return as Jane Foster will shake up the MCU in an important way. Marvel Studios is currently producing the latest film in the Thor franchise, which will see Portman reunite on screen with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and join the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now it looks like we know how she will gain Mjolnir’s powers and how it will affect Nova Asgard, in a setting that pays tribute to Anthony Hopkins’ Odin.
Beware, spoilers below. Although there is no concrete detail, the photos provide a lot of context about how it all happens.

In the photos of the set, we can see that New Asgard created a monument to honor the place where Odin died and where Hela destroyed Mjolnir during the events of Thor: Ragnarok. The hammer’s Uru metal fragments appear to be on display, surrounded by guards.
Although it looks like a tourist attraction, something happens where Jane Foster de Portman finds herself alone and, on the video set, it looks like she is being overcome by power – possibly even by Mjolnir himself. This would be a big change for Jane and the Asgardians, and who knows how Thor will react when he finds out.
We already knew Thor: love and thunder would bring many changes to the Marvel cinematic universe. Portman herself brought about some major changes by referring to the source of the comics The mighty Thor by Russell Dauterman and Jason Aaron.
“I can’t tell you much. I’m very excited,” Portman said during an interview with Yahoo !. “I’m starting to train, to gain muscle. If there can be all these superheroes, the more of them, the better. I’m trying to think – it’s based on the comic book of The mighty Thor. She is undergoing cancer treatment and is a parallel superheroine. “
Fans will see how powerful Jane Foster becomes when Thor: love and thunder opens in theaters next year on May 6, 2022.
