The USA administers 72.8 million doses of COVID-19-CDC vaccines

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that 72,806,180 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the country on Saturday morning and that 96,402,290 doses were distributed.

The count is for Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines starting at 6 am ET on Saturday, the agency said. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines involve two doses.

The CDC on Friday had reported a total of 70,454,064 doses of vaccines administered and 94,300,910 doses distributed.

The agency said that by Saturday, 48,435,536 people had received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 23,698,627 had received both doses.

A total of 7,043,540 doses of vaccine have been administered in long-term care facilities, the agency said. (Reporting by Maria Ponnezhath in Bengaluru; Editing by Leslie Adler)
