COLOMBIA (AP) – The University of South Carolina says it plans to hold in-person graduation ceremonies in the spring.
On Wednesday, the school announced that graduation ceremonies would be held for candidates for bachelor’s, master’s and professional degrees in the spring of 2021 between 7 and 8 May at Williams Brice Stadium. In addition, a personal recognition ceremony for graduates from May and December 2020 will take place on May 15 at the stadium, WCIV-TV reported.
Each ceremony will require physical distance between the guests and mandatory facial coverage. Each trainee will be allowed to have five guests present.
“We are excited to safely celebrate their achievements with their families and loved ones,” said university president Bob Caslen. “We made this decision in consultation with our public health experts, and each ceremony will be conducted with appropriate risk mitigation measures to ensure the safety of our graduates and guests.”
More than 8,000 students will graduate across the UofSC system in May.
