Arik Gilbert – a former five-star recruit as the No. 5 overall candidate for 247Sports Composite, number 1 in the tight end and number one player in Georgia for the 2020 class – logged on to Twitter and announced a transfer decision Sunday night. After officially entering the NCAA transfer portal on January 5, about a month after his option not to participate in the 2020 season at LSU, Gilbert said in a tweet that he committed to Florida.
“After careful consideration, I decided to commit to the University of Florida. This is the best situation for me and I am excited to be joining the family.” Gilbert said, adding an “100” emoji to the end of the tweet.
