Netflix started the holiday season with an early Christmas gift, announcing that the long-awaited successful third season Snake Kai now it will debut a week earlier than expected. The series will now debut on January 1, 2021, instead of the previous release date of January 8. Set 34 years after the first karate Kid movie, Snake Kai reexamine Daniel’s rival’s narrative, Johnny Lawrence’s point of view. Now a struggling alcoholic, Johnny decides to reopen the Cobra Kai karate dojo, leading to the rekindling of his former rivalry with Daniel LaRusso.
Season 3 begins with the characters as they struggle to come to terms with the repercussions of the fight at school that ended the exciting finale of season two. With Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) in a coma, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) must reevaluate the extent of his own involvement in the events that put him there and try to figure out how to open a better path for his students. The drama reaches the full extent of season 3, with Robby (Tanner Buchanan) now in jail for hurting Miguel. Meanwhile, Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) is once again plagued by school bully Kyler (Joe Seo), and John Kreese (Martin Kove) tightens his grip on Cobra Kai, once again instilling his students with a very questionable moral code.
As provoked in the most recent trailer for Cobra Kai season 3, Daniel and Johnny will put at least some of their differences aside and join forces to fight for their students. In a recent interview, actor Ralph Macchio made an unexpected comparison between the warrior duo of Snake Kai and the one from Friends couple Ross and Rachel. “That’s where our Ross and Rachel are, which I mentioned earlier,” explained Macchio. “Johnny and Daniel, we love to see them having a few beers and be nice, and we also love to see them fighting with each other. Another thing that works so well on the show is that the audience can see the different, but same elements of these Sometimes it’s frustrating because you just want to put them together in a room and pour a drink and just say, ‘Get over it.’ “
Starring Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Peyton List and Martin Kove alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, the third season also sees Daniel-San returning to Okinawa for a Karate Kid Part II meeting with nemesis Chozen Toguchi, and his love interest, Kumiko, played again by Yuji Okumoto and Tamlyn Tomita, respectively.
“For season 3, one thing I can say is that, while we have a lot of cleanup to do based on season 2 events, some of the stories will delve into the origins of Karate Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai,” Macchio revealed earlier this year . “Like, the beginning of these two forms of martial arts, and we’re going to learn things about the two that we never knew about. And that includes LaRusso going to Okinawa, which is a piece of the third season.”
Netflix will now debut Snake Kai 3rd season on January 1st, 2021 and provide the perfect view for New Year’s Day. Happy holidays to all! It comes to us from Cobra Kai’s official Twitter account.
