The Texas Tech football team takes former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough as a graduate

Former Oregon starting quarterback Tyler Shough is joining Texas Tech as a transfer graduate, he announced on Monday.

Shough, who started all seven games in 2020 when Oregon won his second consecutive Pac-12 championship, will have three years of remaining eligibility with the Red Raiders.

He completed 63.5 percent of his passes for 1,559 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions last season, but lost playing time to Anthony Brown in the Pac-12 championship game and the Fiesta Bowl. Shough said after the bowling game that he intended to stay in Oregon, but entered the NCAA transfer portal on February 12.

An ESPN 300 recruit in the 2018 class, Shough spent two seasons supporting Justin Herbert before winning the title job last season. He graduated from Oregon and tweeted that he will do a master’s degree at Texas Tech.

Alan Bowman, Texas Tech’s top full-back for the past three seasons, joined the transfer portal in January.

Texas Tech maintains Henry Colombi, who passed 1,065 yards and eight touchdowns last season, and welcomes Behren Morton, the number 20 in ESPN’s pass pocket and the number 156 player overall in the 2021 recruiting class.

Texas Tech replaced offensive coordinator David Yost with Sonny Cumbie, a former school defender. The Red Raiders finished 4-6 last season.
