In the summer of 2018, creator of comics Mark Millar signed a deal with Netflix to turn several of its Millarworld brand titles into movies and TV shows for the streaming service, and the first will finally arrive this year.
Jupiter’s legacy is a new series of superheroes based on the comic book of the same name by Millar and illustrator Frank quitely. We still have to take an official look at the show starring Josh Duhamel (Transformers), but Netflix debuted a Jupiter’s legacy teaser to announce the program’s arrival in May, and comes with a warning that is sinister but hopeful.
Trailer Teaser of the Legacy of Jupiter
Here is the official synopsis of Jupiter’s legacy, coming to Netflix in May 7, 2021:
After nearly a century of keeping humanity safe, the world’s first generation of superheroes must look to their children to continue the legacy. But tensions escalate as young superheroes, hungry to prove themselves, struggle to live up to their parents’ legendary public reputation – and demanding personal standards.
Josh Duhamel is heard in a narration in this teaser saying: “One day you will be stronger than anyone else in the world. All the evil you can imagine will rise against humanity, not for justice, but for vengeance. And you will be the future. “Of course, he’s talking to one of the younger superheroes they’ll trust to protect the world, but we still don’t have a glimpse of any of the characters on the show.
The teaser footage is not from the actual show, but a set of images and structures that fans Jupiter’s legacy comics will probably recognize. A red cape that sways for a moment gives off a Superman vibe, as does a place that looks like it could easily be the Court of Justice.
Will Jupiter’s legacy will be able to shake the action of superheroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the extended DC Universe? This is a very difficult task, but Netflix certainly wants to establish its own big superhero franchise. Although they have just launched We can be heroes in January (and a sequence is already underway), Jupiter’s legacy it will be aimed at a more mature audience, rather than children, and that’s exactly what Netflix needs to compete against Disney + and HBO Max in the superhero department.
Jupiter’s legacy also stars Leslie Bibb (Iron Man), Ben Daniels (The crown), Elena Kampouris (Sacred Lies), Andrew Horton (How to talk to girls at parties), Mike Wade (To the people), and Matt Lanter (Eternal)
