The Super Nintendo World website accidentally uses Mario fan art rendering

You, me and the grandparents of all know that the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan will be the most amazing thing in the world. It is beyond debate. And we recently covered the opening of the theme park’s official website, which provided additional details such as the delicious food that regulars will enjoy. However, a peculiarity seemed to escape the design of the website: a rendering of Mario fan art was used on the Super Nintendo World website.

Twitter User uJidow pointed out that an old rendering of Mario fan art created by the user is being used on the website as part of the loading screen.

What probably happened is that the website’s web designer took the image from Google assuming it was official, as it was of high quality. It is a very innocent mistake, considering all things, especially when you consider that there is an official rendering of Mario that is almost identical to the rendering of fan art accidentally used for the Super Nintendo World website. Take a look at the fan (left) and official (right) renderings below.

Ideally, the Super Nintendo World website will be updated to replace fan art with official art. We’ll just have to wait and see.
