Is anyone running for an extremely censored ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’?
Warner Bros. released the first full trailer for Suicide squad, writer / director James Gunna kind of 2016 sequence Suicide squad. Obviously, a trailer is not the deciding factor for the final quality of a film, but King Shark says “nom-nom” and eats a man’s whole head, so I feel very comfortable in declaring Suicide squad the greatest superhero movie ever made.
In fact, though, this trailer had an incredible mountain to climb, featuring a handful of new characters, re-introduce some remnants of the previous film – Boomerang, you beautiful son of a bitch – and just convince the audience to buy back after the disappointment that was Suicide squad. It is basically a success! There is no real hint of a plot yet, but you definitely understand the vibe Gunn is looking for, a fast-paced action-action comedy that is big on play, violence and color. I’m sure Gunn prefers people not to think of it just as a forbidden person Guardians of the Galaxy, but this … absolutely 100% looks like an R-rated Guardians of the Galaxy, but that is still an argument that I am looking forward to seeing. It also looks like this cast’s brute-force charm will ‘carry a huge load; I would say, like, 40% of the vibrations in this trailer actually land, but Margot Robbie is so committed to Harley Quinn, Idris Elba it’s a big hardass, and John Cenathe arms are so disturbingly large that they look natural. More of David Dastmalchian like a polka dot man deeply depressed, please.
