While cases of COVID-19 are falling in the US, new reports from the CDC warn that mutations in COVID may cause a “rapid increase” in coronavirus cases.
In a report, researchers from the CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health detailed the cases of the variant first identified in the UK.
Previous data suggested that the variant – which may be more transmissible – could become the predominant variant in the United States in March and authorities are asking people to take steps to reduce the spread.
“When it is your turn to get vaccinated, get vaccinated. It is not only good for you, your family and your community, but it will have a very important impact on the dynamics of the outbreak in our country, ”said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, at a press conference at COVID-19 at the White House on Wednesday, February 17.
Fauci now says it may be until May or June that all Americans will have access to the vaccine.
