The Stardew Valley version 1.5 update for Nintendo Switch is now available

Update Stardew Valley 1.5

The big moment has finally come for the successful game console players Stardew Valley. The creator, ConcernedApe, finally released the long-awaited update to version 1.5.

“The Stardew Valley 1.5 update for Switch, Xbox and PlayStation has been released”

If you’re not following our coverage of the Stardew Valley, version 1.5 contains a new farm on the beach, advanced game options and more. You can see the full changelog in our previous post, but be warned – it may contain spoilers.

We also have a spoiler-free summary of what to expect (notes based on the PC patch) ConcernedApe previously said that version 1.5 was “by far the biggest solid piece of new content added to the game since launch.”

New game options

If you are thinking of starting a new saved file for this update, there are some new character creation options:

Stardew Valley
  1. There is a new farm called “Beach Farm“. It’s big, with good fishing and gathering opportunities, and the chance of a rare box of supplies reaching the shore. But there is a catch … most of the farm is covered by sandy soil that prevents the use of sprinklers (they clog with sand). If this is your first time playing Stardew Valley, I recommend trying one of the other farms for a more classic experience, but if you’re coming back for another move, Beach Farm can make your experience a little fresher (it also has a unique look).
  2. There is a new “Advanced game options”In the bottom left corner of the character creation menu. From here, you can select a variety of options to customize your game. For returning players, I recommend trying the “remixed” packages from the Community Center, which randomize the packages you receive, adding new ones, as well as variations of the originals. Remixing the rewards from the mine can also shake things up … this adds a random variety to what you can get out of the mine chests.
  3. Be sure to check the new hairstyles at the end of the hair list.

Split Screen (Local) Co-Op

To play the split screen, build a hut (for Robin) for up to 3 other players who will join (if you are starting a new game, you can also select to have booths already placed at the beginning in the advanced game options menu). When the booths are there, open the game menu, scroll down to multiplayer mode and select “Start local co-op”. The other players can now enter by pressing start on a controller connected to the PC. Please see the options tab in the game menu to adjust the zoom level and the zoom level of the UI to a setting that works well for you. Otherwise, the split screen works in exactly the same way as the online multiplayer.

A spoiler-free list of some of the expected new features:
