The Spartans return to South Carolina for the Clemson Invitational

EAST LANSING – Michigan’s women’s golf team returns to South Carolina this weekend for the Clemson Invitational, which will be played Friday through Sunday at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina. teams presents four programs in the Golfstat top 25 and nine in the top 40.

Friday and Saturday rounds are scheduled to start at 10am, while Sunday’s final round is scheduled to start at 9am.

SPARTANS AT THE CLEMSON INVITATION

The Spartans had good performances at the Clemson Invitational, ranking among the first five consecutive years of 2016-18. The last time the event was played in 2019, MSU ended in 11º, just five shots from the top five, in a tournament that lasted just two rounds due to bad weather on the last day.

MSU ranked second in 2018; fifth in 2017; and the third in 2016. Ally Katie Sharp took medal honors at the inaugural event in 2016.

THE COURSE

The par 72 course designed by Jack Nicklaus, located along Lake Keowee, will play at 6,471 yards.

Michigan is finishing sixth at the Briar’s Creek Invitational from March 15th to 16th … Freshman Leila Raines had the best result of any Spartan in a tournament this season at Briar’s Creek when he tied for fourth place in 1 over par 217 … Valery Plata and Yurika Tanida lead MSU on average this season, as both are at 73.6.
