The snowstorm did not prevent Skippack, in Montgomery County, from residents receiving the COVID vaccine

SKIPPACK, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – As heavy snow fell outside the Skippack Fire Company in Montgomery County, Donna Mastrangelo waited for more than an hour in the freezing cold.

“I just wanted to because I’m tired of the isolation and everything,” said Mastrangelo, who celebrated his 73rd birthday by receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. For her, it was worth the wait and the elements.

“I’m wearing a mask every day and we’re restricted, so it’s something we really have to do,” said her husband, Joe.

The fire department has partnered with Skippack Pharmacy to distribute 1,000 doses to people who qualify in Phase 1a in Montgomery County.

“The community said to me when I did a survey and asked, ‘Do you really want to go out in the snow?’ Everyone said, ‘Even if you call me at 3 am, I’ll be in my pajamas,’ “said Mayank Amin, owner of the pharmacy.

This is essentially what happened. This clinic opened in less than 36 hours. The pharmacy found that it was vaccinated on Friday. On Saturday night, he sent e-mails to everyone who expressed interest in his website.

“By 5 am, all of these places were filled,” said Amin.

Dressed as a Superman, Amin said he is proud to have entrusted these doses to an independent pharmacy.

“Although I am dressed like a superhero today, my superheroes are responsible for the emergency response, all of these health professionals who put their lives at risk every day last year to help save their communities” , he said.
