An Apex Legends developer suggested a major change in the game, with the Hemlok assault rifle possibly being nerfed in the near future.
When season 7 launched in November, there were a number of changes in the balance and adjustment of weapons. L-STAR and Havoc received buffs, while Hemlok and Triple Take were nerfed – although there is still a common belief that Hemlok is a little too powerful.
While the recoil was increased in the 7th season update, and the headshot multiplier was reduced, players are still seeing themselves obliterated by the AR, especially when it is fully stacked.
After a small content creator from YouTuber and Apex Legends, SoaR Kobi, said that the Hemlok meta “has to go”, one of the developers of developer Respawn gave a very clear hint of what was to come.
This hemlok goal MUST go, be wiped by 3 stacked hemlok gold is not a vibration, peak for a second and fry 😅

Although there has been a lot of discussion about Hemlok’s condition in the past few months, and he received nerfs at that time, there is still a lot of belief that he needs to be knocked down a pin or two to stay in line with the other Apex Rifles for assaulting legends.
After another streamer tagged Respawn producer Josh Medina in Kobi’s tweet, asking if he “got us” with the Hemlok meta correction, Medina’s response was short, but very clear.
“Yes, sir,” he said to NoobKingSmith, indicating that another nerf Hemlok is on the way and that this could solve the problem once and for all.
Yes sir

Of course, balancing weapons at this level must be very difficult, so hopefully, we won’t see Hemlok nerfed on the ground, but more aligned with the rest of his class and we won’t fall into the hands of a Hemlok as much.
It is not clear when this nerf could potentially happen, however. The tweet suggests it is in progress, so it could be released soon, but the season 8 update is not expected until early February.
Whether the nerf will come before that is a mystery, but players hope so.
