The singer of Maroon 5 is sad because “There are no bands anymore”

Adam Levine, lead singer of the band Maroon 5, is sad that there are no more bands. In a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music to discuss Maroon 5’s new song, “Beautiful Mistakes”, with Megan Thee Stallion, Levine laments the lack of bands on the current pop scene and gets nostalgic about the happy days of bands, like Avril Lavigne:

You look back and, it’s funny, I’ve been showing video clips to my kids, my little girl. And it’s funny how you come back and watch like those old videos again, and listen to those old songs, and I’ve been playing a lot of Avril Lavigne records for her. Like, man, “I’m With You” is like – yeah, it makes you cry. It’s crazy, because you don’t remember the same way, because you took it for granted, because it was like when you were growing up, and it was just part of what you had on the radio. But there are some really great songs that I didn’t understand how good they were back then.

It’s funny, when Maroon 5’s first album came out, there were still other bands. I feel like there are no more bands, you know? That’s what makes me kind of sad, is that there were only bands. There are no more bands, and I feel that they are an endangered race. And so I kind of, in a weird way, as … I mean, there are still a lot of bands, and maybe they’re not so much in the spotlight, or in the pop spotlight, but I wish there could be more of those around.

More Maroon 5s!
