It is no secret that 49ers are going to lose at least one coach this off-season, and possibly more than that. Who they will be able to replace these coaches will be a critical factor for them to succeed in moving forward with a list that will look very different in 2021. Fortunately for the team and its fans, this process has already started.
Take a look at what John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan said during their final press conference for the 2020 season earlier this week.
Here is John Lynch:
When you land and see the beauty of this place and driving, it’s a rainy morning, but it was a beautiful morning. All the opportunities, in addition to playing for the San Francisco 49ers and walking through the Lombardi trophies every day you enter the building. I love sharing stories with people about the Harris Bartons of the world who have stayed in this area and have translated into tremendous business success because of the contacts they have made in this area with so many things happening that the focal point for the world in terms of technology and all that. This is a great opportunity. For some people, it means a lot to.
And Kyle Shanahan:
People like the Niners here. Even before last year. It is a cool place to live. I’ve been to different places that aren’t always like that and they’re not just crazy, they don’t have anything else to do. No, they have a lot going on here, but they are very genuine and they treat us very well. This makes me, my family and our players very much like living here.
As Kyle Posey and Akash Anavarathan pointed out in today’s Shanaplan Podcast, none of this was accidental.
“The heads of the 49ers, Kyle and John, they are not stupid,” said Akash, “They know they are going to lose some coaches … and they have to fill those positions. So now they need to convince someone from a different team to potentially join the 49ers and leave their current situation, so they need to sell the Bay Area. I thought it was a great selling point and they are starting now, which was smart. “

While the pitches themselves are not the only reason why someone wants to join the 49ers, the fact that the general manager and the head coach are attentive enough to play is a good sign. This shows that they are smart enough to see the big picture and try to use all possible methods available to bring the most talented people to the coaching staff.
Let’s hope it’s worth it.
