The senior Democrat’s “hot microphone” says the Republican Party’s slowness will force an accelerated infrastructure process

Buttigieg said he was “quite agnostic about the process. We just want it to work and move on”, but that he is “all ears” while lawmakers in Hill are trying to figure out the sequence and pieces of legislation.

The timing: “We have a watch on everything we are doing, especially as the current reauthorization of the surface ends in September,” Buttigieg told reporters during the event.

“We are not waiting until September to act. The talks are now taking place, as you have seen, meetings in the Oval Office with the President, leaders of both parties and both Houses.”

The DOT chief challenged a specific timeline when asked whether the plan would be revealed in March. “I’m going to let the president lead the legislative priorities and the sequencing, but … these conversations are very live,” he said.
