The second open beta test for Guilty Gear Strive has been confirmed and changes to the lobby have been detailed

The new developer yard gives some hints after the previous beta

A second open beta test for Guilty Gear Strive following the game’s delay last month, and now it finally looks like we have confirmation for the next iteration.

Arc System Works has now launched Backyard 4 for Strive from the developer that delves deeper into the future beta, as well as the changes they plan to implement for the game’s poorly received lobby system.

“We are planning a second Open Beta Test based on player feedback,” says the bottom of the developer’s post. “The timing has not yet been determined, so stay tuned for future updates.”

Considering Strive’s new June 11 release date, the latest ArcSys would likely have this bonus chance of getting our hands on the game again in early May, so a date should drop at any time.

The developers say they would like to conduct the beta as soon as the planned changes to the lobby are completed.

Strive’s online lobbying system was the lowest ranking mode in post-beta research by far, with more than 50% of respondents rating it as bad or very bad.

To try to solve the problems present in the latest beta, ArcSys says it will implement the following changes in the updated lobbies:

• Switch to a system where players select a visible area where they want to play

• After winning a game, the player remains where he is in a battle-ready state, unless his rating changes

• Adding a rematch option

• Expand the area in each lobby, adding an option to hide the news display and adding a dash movement for avatars.

These adjustments are likely to make Strive’s lobbies function similarly to the developer’s previous titles, although it appears that they are clearly adhering to the multi-level 2D stages in the mode.

It was not confirmed in the post here, but the Guilty Gear Strive launch chart seems to show that the second beta will once again be available only to PlayStation owners with digital pre-orders guaranteeing an early access day.
