The SC man accused of armed robbery said he was ‘just kidding’

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF / WVLT) – A South Carolina man faces charges of theft after passing a note indicating he was armed to a store employee in Horry County, investigators said.

The WMBF reported that 20-year-old Spencer Allen Boros was accused of armed robbery after passing the note indicating that he was going to steal the place from an employee on Sunday.

The man entered the store, asked for a pen and paper and passed the note to the employee, according to a prison report.

The report says the man told the employee he was “just kidding” before going to the bathroom and leaving the store. He was arrested shortly after. The WMBF reported that Boros stole a steak from the store before leaving.

He was released from prison on $ 500 bail on Monday.
