We haven’t seen a Prince of Persia game released since The Forgotten Sands in 2010, so we should be releasing a new game.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has always been hailed as the best of the series and one that fans remember fondly.
In 2020, it was announced that The Sands of Time would receive a remake in 2021.
Now, this may not be the best case.
Delayed indefinitely
It was announced that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been postponed indefinitely.
The game was originally supposed to be released in January 2021, before being postponed to March 2021.
There is now no release date for the game, leaving many players wondering what the future holds for them.
On a tweet, Ubisoft warns fans by saying,
“Since the announcement of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we’ve seen many comments from you about this beloved franchise.
It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible.
With that said, we made the decision to postpone the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date.
This extra development time will allow our teams to deliver a remake that looks new, while remaining true to the original.
We understand that the update may come as a surprise and will continue to keep you posted on the progress of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. In the meantime, we want to thank everyone for their continued support. “
We saw many games late last year, and many already in 2021, due to the current global pandemic.
This probably won’t be the last game to be delayed either, as developers need to adapt to try to develop AAA titles mainly at home.

Ubisoft released an official reveal trailer in September 2020.
Platforms
The remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store.
It doesn’t look like the game will be released on Steam, however, it may in the future.
Nintendo Switch Port
Although it was not originally announced, it looks like the game may be getting a Nintendo Switch port.
On the Ubisoft store page for the game, the Switch is listed as one of the platforms.
It also looks like the Switch version will be released alongside the other platforms.
Often, the Switch version is released later, but it doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Next generation versions
On the same page as the game store, PS5 and Xbox Series X are mentioned.
The list states:
“Buy Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake on PlayStation®4 or Xbox One and upgrade your game to the next generation version (PlayStation®5 or Xbox Series X) at no additional cost.”
There is no news about a release date for the next generation versions, however, based on that, it looks like they will not be released along with the other versions.
