Qantas led AirlineRatings.com’s annual list, a ranking that analyzes 385 operators on the following factors: accident and record of serious incidents; audits by government agencies and industry; government audits; industry-leading security initiatives; and age of the fleet. AirlineRatings.com calls itself the “industry standard” in safety scores, using a seven-star system to inform passengers from 195 countries about all matters related to aviation.

In disclosing the ratings, AirlineRatings.com editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas emphasized that all of the top 20 airlines are excellent.
