Do you remember where you were a year ago? Chances are that it is the same place you are now, given the fact that (depending on where you live) we are approaching the one-year anniversary of when COVID-19 blockades began to take place in the United States. Intentionally timed or not, Universal has just announced a delicious new way for all of us to remember the first fun days of the pandemic, once again delaying the launch of both. F9 and Minions: The Rise Of Gru, two films that were delayed because of the coronavirus about a year ago. Doesn’t that just remind you of March 2020, when no one was sure how the virus was transmitted and everyone tried to be optimistic about the time they could devote to learning new hobbies or reading a lot of books? Good times. (Or, you know, very bad times.)

Anyway, the F9 the delay is not as dramatic as it was last year, when it was jumped from May 2020 to April 2, 2021, but it will still be a few months before we see Dom and his family go to space. Variety it says F9 was moved to June 25 (this year!), which theoretically would be almost a month after the US had collected enough COVID-19 vaccines for every adult in the country – which means that you may actually be able to see safely F9 in a theater, if the real vaccines go well, which seems absolutelywildly wild.

As for Minions: The Rise Of Gru, this It is getting a dramatic delay. Instead of opening on July 2, 2021 (after being postponed on July 3, 2020), it was moved to July 1, 2022, which means Minions fans will have to wait more than an entire year to see how Bob and Stuart initially came across the childless supervillain Gru. (We are not judging you for not having children, this is just the plot of the first film.)
